Cambridge University Pole Sports (CUPS) are the official pole sports and pole dancing society of the University of Cambridge. Founded in 2016, it is our mission to make pole accessible, empowering, and welcoming for everyone.”
We hold weekly classes for all abilities, as well as host training sessions for experienced dancers. We also compete at a range of competitions, including university-run regional and national competitions and Oxford varsity, as well as perform regularly at our showcases and university events like may balls. Do keep an eye on our Instagram and Facebook pages for more details!
Statement of Solidarity
The University of Cambridge Pole Sports Society stands in solidarity with sex workers and recognises their rights to safety, dignity, and autonomy. Modern pole dance has its roots in striptease and the art of performance created and sustained by sex workers. We honour this history and the contributions of the sex work community to the evolution of pole. We oppose stigma, discrimination, and harassment directed at sex workers, and we support their right to work free from violence and exploitation.
As a society, we are committed to promoting an environment of respect, empowerment and inclusivity for everybody. If you would like to find out more information, do check out these resources: DecrimNow UK, SWARM and National Ugly Mugs.
